How to Get Your Swimming Pool Ready for the Summer

Summertime is one of the best seasons especially in a tropical country like ours. Just imagine yourself taking a dip in the cold waters of your pool during a hot summer day then relaxing sunbathing by the sun bed. Ahhh the best times indeed!

But before you take a dip, there are some things you have to make sure first. And we are here to help you get your summer dream staycation rolling!

Here are some tips to help you get your swimming pool ready for the summer:

Don’t Simply Drain Your Pool

So you probably haven’t used your pool in a long time and dirt has accumulated in the waters and your first instinct might be to drain it immediately. We’ll stop you right there! Draining your pool might cause more problems than you intend to as it may lift the ground underneath. It’s best to call professionals who have the right tools and machineries to drain out your pool the proper way.

Clean it well!

You don’t want to be swimming in a pool of dirt now, do you? Start with cleaning your pool with a “chemical open”. Make sure your filtration system is working, clean out all the baskets, and tiles if needed, and remove all plugs.

Balance Your Chemicals

Some pool owners are very particular with the pH balance of their swimming pool. For reference, the recommended pH levels must be levels between 7.2 to 7.4. The pH level dictates how much chlorine turns into hypochlorous acid in the water. Use soda ash to increase pH; muriatic acid or sodium bisulfate to decrease. And Chlorine must be from 1 ppm to 3 ppm.

Wait for the Water to Clear

Don’t dive in just yet! After putting loads chemicals, your pool must be filtered out everyday until it clears out and is swimming-ready. How to know if it’s ready? When the water is clear enough that you can see the pool floor.

Housekeeping and Maintenance

Make sure you have a pool cover to keep out falling leaves and other debris. You don’t want to always be cleaning out your pool before you use it right? Make sure that your filtration system is always unclogged. And you may also test the waters every now and then.
